Platform tennis in Michigan’s wine country

Leelanau Paddle Club ("LPC") is open and ready for play!  Memberships are available.

The club is organized as a 501c7 social club, which leases its site location from Dune Bird Winery in Leelanau County, MI.  Two platform tennis courts were constructed in 2026 by Total Platform Tennis of Cincinnati.  The courts are located adjacent to Dune Bird Winery’s tasting room, providing great access to a fun and relaxing atmosphere.

Court construction costs are significant, and the club relied on donations, memberships, grants, and financing to make this project happen.  The club's membership base is necessary to support ongoing operations. If you're interested in LPC, we encourage you to become a member.

At certain times, Dune Bird Winery will have reserved hours where patrons of the tasting room can play paddle tennis.  All other times will be restricted for club members.

Family memberships are available and can be purchased via OpenCourt. 

LPC has a lease agreement with the owner of Dune Bird Winery to use a portion of the property for the club.  The two entities are separate but complementary. 

Platform tennis (aka "paddle tennis") began in 1928 in Scarsdale, New York, when neighbors created a racquet sport they could enjoy during the winter. Played outdoors on a court smaller than tennis and enclosed by wire fencing, the game allows the ball to stay in play even after hitting the surrounding screens. Courts are usually built on raised, heated platforms, making it possible to play in cold or snowy conditions. Known for its social and welcoming atmosphere, platform tennis combines strategy, finesse, and quick thinking, while remaining easy to learn and enjoyable for players of all ages and skill levels.
